SERIOUS DIVERSION FROM THE AUTHENTIC SHOE

All U.S. military dress shoe contracts required GoodYear welt sole attachment. But, your shoe has the Norwegian welt. Also the soles were never black. The sole edges were dyed the same colour as the upper leather. Further, Throughout the war, all dress shoes had six eyelet holes, not seven holes. The bottoms of the soles were not dyed. They were left in the natural colour except for the edges which were russet brown in colour. The brown shoe was also worn by Naval aviators while wearing the aviation green working uniform and while dressed in the Khaki dress Uniform. Only Navy aviators were authorized brown shoes. All other officers were required to wear black shoes even with the summer khaki uniform.
